Membership at Hope Fellowship
If the Bible is the cornerstone of our church, then membership is the cement that holds us all together. Both Jesus and Paul pointed us toward membership for our encouragement, our protection, and our instruction. We seek to carry out this vision through our four-step process by which to join Hope Fellowship.
1) Membership Class – All prospective members must attend our Membership Matters class. This 2 hour class is offered periodically on Saturday mornings throughout the year. Upon completion, those who have attended this class are able, but not obligated, to sign up for a membership interview.
2) Membership Interview – The prospective member will meet with an Elder to recount God’s converting work in his or her life while affirming the statement of faith and church covenant. This is a good time for the prospective member to ask questions and get clarification on any church doctrine or practice.
3) Elder Recommendation – At a regularly scheduled Elders’ meeting, the interviewing Elder will share with the other Elders the details of their interview with the prospective member. Upon receiving their collective approval, the candidate’s application proceeds to the final step: congregational affirmation.
4) Congregational Affirmation - During a regularly scheduled members' meeting, the candidate will be presented to the body for affirmation. Once this final step is completed, the candidate is admitted into membership with full rights and privileges.
